"Born in Paris in 1885, Georges-Lucien GUYOT, whose Work is as strong and charming as his personality, is one of the greatest Animalier Artists of the 20th century. From his very first pieces, GUYOT has encountered a significant recognition. Nowadays his renown is international.

After World War I, he set up his studio at the Bateau-Lavoir known as the « Art Temple » of the beginning of the 20th century and would not leave the place until he was compelled to due to its destruction by fire in 1970.

As soon as 1920, his works of art were being showed at the greatest Parisian art fairs.
Always wandering along the Jardin des Plantes, he restlessly studies the anatomy and postures of each of his subjects.
Throughout his career, plenty of galleries have displayed his works, among them are the likes of Bernheim Jeune, Druet, Devambez & Malesherbes Gallery.

He received several State commissions especially during the 1937 World Expo of which he produced the monumental gold bronze sculpture “Horses and Dog”, which adorns one of the Trocadéro’s fountains.
In 1947, the city of Laguiole called on him to create its Foirail Square renowned “Aubrac’s Bull sculpture”, which was to become the town symbol.
His Monumental “Stallion of Haras de Callac” is also outstanding.

His success and his renown were immediate in the 1930’s and definitively consecrated in 1972 when he won the Edouard-Marcel Sandoz Price.
He is certainly one of the most fulfilled animal artists as he knew how to express himself with equal happiness through both sculpture and drawing.

Nowadays, Pierre DUMONTEIL, sole qualified expert appointed by the legatees and exclusive representatives of the artist succession, devotes himself to retrace the life and work of the Artist through the creation of Georges-Lucien GUYOT’s Archives and the constant display of his works worldwide."
