A 1940's dining table by French Modernist designer and architect Rene Herbst (1891-1982). Herbst was known for his advocacy of of the industrialisation of furniture as a form of modern art and co-founding The French Union Of Modern Artists in 1929.
The table is made from birds eye maple veneer with a nickel plated tubular base. We have had the table restored to it's original beauty through refinishing the surface and strengthening the supportive struts under the table top.
