This Sussex armchair exemplifies the refined simplicity of late Victorian furniture. The wooden frame has been ebonised, a finishing technique that gives the surface the deep black appearance of ebony, emphasizing the chair’s slender turned spindles and balanced proportions. The chair remains in very good structural condition with stable joints, and the rush seat has been newly replaced, preserving its traditional character while ensuring continued use.
