A stunning corner chair by Italian designer Carlo Bugatti (1856-1940), circa 1890's, Milan, Italy. 

Walnut and stained maple wood frame, pewter inlays, hand-hammered wrought copper appliques and legs wrappers, original silk tassel fringes, natural vellum seat. 

The vellum seat has been newly replaced as well as one of the copper leg wraps (see photo) and some of the pewter inlays. Woodworm holes to the frame which have been filled and the chair has been heat treated for woodworm as a precaution, certificate provided. We have had the tassels professionally cleaned and consolidated by a conservationist. 

A member of the influential Italian Bugatti family he is the son of the specialist interior decorator Luigi Bugatti and father of renowned sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti and the Bugatti automobile founder Ettore Bugatti.
