Émile Aubry was born in 1880 in Algiers. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

His work combines classical influences with more modern ideas. Inspired by artists like David and Ingres, he used clear lines and balanced compositions. At the same time, he brought in a more modern approach, especially in his use of light and texture.

In 1907, he won the Prix de Rome, which allowed him to study at the Villa Medici in Rome. There, he was strongly influenced by Renaissance art, which shaped his later work.

Aubry created both paintings and large decorative works for public and religious buildings. After returning to France, he became known for his murals, including frescoes at the Sorbonne and in churches around Paris.

Aubry lived through the major events of the 20th century while staying committed to humanist values and art that serves society. He died in 1964, leaving behind work known for its balance, clarity, and sense of beauty.
